A ROAD TRIP I WILL NEVER FORGET

Mission - Take Shelby and the others to compete in the State Soccer Shootout. We were thinking about not going because of the length of the drive and Shelby got very upset. So Kimberly agreed because of Shelby we would make the journey.

9:00 AM - Leave Georgetown for Greer.

11:45 AM - Stop at a rest stop and had lunch.

1:15 PM - Arrived at the MESA Soccer Complex. (It was nice)

1:30 PM - Registered the kids to compete.

2:00 PM - Competition begins.

3:15 PM - Competition over, drive to Elk's lodge for a nice meal.

4:00 PM - Eating spaghetti & having a nice time.

4:15 PM - Trophies awarded.
8 & 9 Girls - 3rd place - Laura Anderson
10 & 11 Girls - 3rd place - Savannah Lambert
10 & 11 Boys - 3rd place - Travis Anderson
12 & 13 Girls - 1st place - Shelby Lambert (State Champ)

4:30 PM - Leave for the trip home.

4:35 PM - GPS unit takes us a different route home.

4:50 PM - Just got on the interstate and the car starts to swerve uncontrollably and this happens.



I called *HP and asked for them to send someone to help us. 5 kids and two females on the side of the interstate with a flat tire. OK, they said, we will send someone. I have to admit Kimberly amazed me. She took charge, and started to change the tire. She got it off, got the spare and had it on when finally a nice couple from Simpsonville stopped to help. For 30 minutes the kids were standing on the side of the road while two girls are trying to change a tire and they were the only ones to stop. The gentlemen tighted the lugnuts and helped us put up the flaten tire. But Kimberly was the one who actually did it. Savannah's quote, "No one can call Ms. Kimberly a girl!" Never saw any from the *HP call.





5:30 PM - The story does not end there. We get going about 5:30 pm and needless to say NASCAR will not be calling.

8:25 PM - We are on 1-26 and Gypsy (aka GPS unit) tells us to take the Moncks Corner exit. I agree and exit. The car starts to swerve AGAIN. This can not be happening. We pull over at a travel center in Summerville. Here we go again, but much worst this time.




WE HAVE NO SPARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

8:30 PM - We start making phone calls. No stores are open that sells tires.

8:40 PM - Kimberly breaks down, laughing uncontrollably.

8:41 PM - Lynn breaks down, crying uncontrollably.

8:42 PM - The kids are having the best time of their life. Can we get a hotel?

9:00 PM - Finally Jody & Adam are going to come from Georgetown and brings us a tire.

9:30 PM - The kids are bouncing off the walls, literally.

10:00 PM - STILL WAITING......

10:30 PM - The kids.....just imagine.

11:00 PM - The kids......we are starving.

11:30 PM - Break down and go get McDonalds.

11:35 PM - Jody & Adam arrive........Yeah!!!

11:50 PM - Leave Summerville for Georgetown.

12:12 AM - The kids are out. Kimberly & I are singing to the radio to keep awake. Our road trip is on hour 15.

12:40 AM - Arrive at the Anderson's.

12:50 AM - Arrive home.

Kimberly said it best, "That's ok, Shelby won".
