GHS runners compete in state finals

Georgetown High School had three runners competing in the SC State Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Columbia.

The AAA state meet was at Sandhills Research Park.

Brandon Cribb of GHS was 68th in a field of 172 boys running in the Class AAA meet.

All runners covered 5k.

Cribb is a freshman. He ran the 5K in 17:52, averaging 5:46 per mile.

For the first time ever, Georgetown sent two girls to the state finals.

There were 167 girls in the 5K run, which began at 8 a.m.

Kateland Todd, a junior, placed 86th with a time of 22:10, averaging 7:08 per mile.

Savannah Lambert, an 8th-grader, placed 104th with a time of 22:48 and an average of 7:21 per mile.

Coaches for the cross country teams are Holly Fesperman and Jill Crothers.

SAVANNAH ADVANCES TO STATE

Georgetown places three runners in Lower State meet

Georgetown High School runners earned three spots in the Lower State meet held last Saturday in Columbia.

Kateland Todd, Savannah Lambert and Brandon Cribb will all return to Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 6 for the state championship meet.

For the girls' cross country runners, Kateland Todd finished 30th with a time of 22:10.

Savannah Lambert finished 33rd with a time of 22:31.

Lambert is an 8th-grader at Georgetown Middle School. This is her first year running on the cross country team.

Both girls also made the All-region team the previous Thursday.

On the boys' team, Brandon Cribb finished 45th with a time of 18:40.

In all, 19 teams participated in the Lower State Competition, which was held at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.
